Sensitization of Community Stakeholders on the HCDT

The sensitization activity was organised to improve the understanding of community stakeholders on the Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) and its role in promoting the development and well-being of host communities in oil-producing areas.

The engagement brought together traditional leaders, community representatives, youth, women, community development actors and other relevant stakeholders to discuss the purpose, structure and responsibilities of the HCDT and the importance of effective community participation in its processes.

The session focused on helping community stakeholders understand how the HCDT is expected to support community development, participation, accountability and improved relationships between host communities and oil and gas operators. Participants were encouraged to ask questions, share concerns and discuss practical ways communities can become more actively involved in decisions affecting development interventions.
